The Royalefam crew returns from Tokyo, so here’s a recap of the KICKS LAB event that we had the honour of being a part of. Big up to the awesome people from KICKS LAB and FRESHNESS for making this event possible, and of course not forgetting, big thanks to all who came to show their support!

It was awesome to see a queue forming right out Club Nuts before the event started, and the turnout was overwhelming! The Royalefam crew was so excited to see so many sneaker enthusiasts turn up at the event. The Japanese sure love their sneakers as much as we do! It wasn’t just the sneaker lovers who turned up, but collectors, shop owners and some of the influential personalities from the street scene in Tokyo.

The Royalefam crew appreciates all the support that everyone has given us. Special mention goes out to these awesome people; Kullen Ozaki, who played a huge role in making all of these possible, and for bringing us around Tokyo; Shigeki from KICKS LAB for giving us this opportunity, and allowing us to experience this in Tokyo; Mr. Suzuki from Loopwheeler, who took time off to come support us at the event.

The Event was a huge success on September 5th. The crowd was great, the music was impactful and a big shout outs to all who came by and support this operation and also to Butter Factory for letting us host this event over their club.

Saturday September 5th will be the Official launch of the first time ever collaboration with 3x DMC Champion INQUISITIVE at the Butter Factory In Singapore.

Our very own local boys, DJ Inquisitive and SBTG have come together and produced a very special limited-edition sneaker honoring the late and great Michael Jackson.

“MJ was the reason I got interested in music in the first place.” says DJ Inquisitive.
“When Leon first approached me to collaborate on a custom design, I searched for a theme to represent his passion in music. Then when the news suddenly broke about MJ’s tragic departure, I knew we would pay tribute to him since both of us grew up listening to him.” explains SBTG.

The “Thriller” custom converse is inspired by the legendary Thriller video and its theme of unleashing the beast within us, featuring SBTG’s new claw-rip design.

METHAMPHIBIAN AND SBTG PRESENT “DAMAGE INC. + VARSITY BONES”
Throughout history, man has engaged in an eternal battle with one another. From schoolyard fights to full-blown wars, conflict has played a role in the progression of the world. This Fall, Methamphibian and SBTG present their own unique interpretations on this age-old subject with the release of two new sneaker projects, DAMAGE INCORPORATED and VARSITY BONES. The world’s two best sneaker customizers come together once again to lend their unparalleled artistic talents for the opening of the new SOURCE store in Beijing. 

DAMAGE INCORPORATED.
DAMAGE INC. is Methamphibian’s fictitious take on a futuristic, politically-relevant “war-for-profit” concept that thrives in a world where war has become big business. A world where war is no longer about territory, ideals or tyranny but has now generated a legitimate economic market where stocks are traded in bullets. Where national militaries are no longer needed but in their place, independent Para-military corporations are called upon to provide their services on per-hire contracts.

DAMAGE INC. will unveil two new limited versions of the iconic Nike Dunk, featuring new hand-painted digital camo patterns and custom embroidered accents. Each model represents a competing Para-military team, both hell-bent on dominating their respective global markets and increasing their own market shares, with their mission objectives coming in second. ‘OBSIDIAN VIPER’ is based on an arctic environment camouflage colorway, inspired by a team that is all about overwhelming strength and firepower, always equipped with the latest in heavy weaponry. ‘Basilisk’ is based on a Black Ops night camouflage colorway, representing a special unit that employs stealth and strategy and uses deadly force from within the shadows. 

The collection is a crossover from Methamphibian’s custom 12″ action figure line and will lead to the introduction of new figure characters in the near future.

VARSITY BONES.
VARSITY BONES is the latest chapter in SBTG’s ongoing celebration of the timeless Nike Dunk. Introduced in 1985 through some of the most storied teams in college basketball, the Dunk takes on a new twist with two limited versions that celebrate the underdogs, the misfits, the teams that were never formed and never got to play in the big leagues. The shoes are based on two fictitious rival gangs who love to play basketball but never get picked to play for their schools because of their colorful reputations as delinquents.

VARSITY BONES takes a step back in its aesthetic approach, using clean and simple color blocks to give the shoes a nostalgic 80’s feel. Each design come in 12 pairs only, representing one of the rival gangs who have opposing ideologies. The red and black Dunk is based on the ‘fierce warrior’ persona of the ‘RED FURY’ gang, a group of misfits who insist on settling everything by sheer power and brute force. The black and purple Dunk is inspired by the ‘SLY BONES’ gang, cunning tacticians who believe that manipulation and deception make things more fun. Forever intertwined by their love for basketball, their blood feud rages on.
 

DAMAGE INCORPORATED and VARSITY BONES will be available exclusively at the new SOURCE store in Beijing this Fall.
